Title: Bowling forum philosophy 101
Post by: charlest on October 28, 2004, 03:19:16 PM
Just saw a new userid to me: "tons-of-fun",
and sadly it occurred to me that despite all the help we try to give each other here, our posts rarely reflect the fun that this game/sport should be. Yes, sometimes, it's a game and sometimes it's a sport, to each of us. But we all got into this because it was fun. We got good at it because we liked to do it, among other reasons.

We get so serious sometimes (myself included), we get so arrogant, we get so self-righteous, we get so pig-headed, stubborn about our attitudes, we get so dumb sometimes.

We need to loosen up a bit and enjoy life a little more, without insulting each other.

I agree with you totally.
It is hard to bite your tongue so to speak sometimes though when another user insults you because they don't agree with your view point.
I think most on here myself included need to learn to keep our bad emotions in check better.

Yes, we need to remember the fun aspect of bowling that we all love to debate. I used to take the sport with more of an intense attitude in my younger days, but with life experience came the realization that bowling is a fun sport, I get great joy and discovery out of it whenever I bowl well, whenever I struggle and when I see other people doing well in the sport it pleases me.

I try my best to be constructive to people when they ask opinions or I give my thoughts without being insulting. There have been a couple of times when people felt the need to strongly express an opposing view, for which all I can do is ingest what they have to say and take the opinion for what it's worth.

Am I not in the right forums? Where does all this bashing and insulting take place?  I am not aware of any of that.   I do see where some opinions differ, but most of the time the one who disagrees repectfully states that they disagree and then state why and state their position.

Enlighten me where this bashing is taking place so I can continue to avoid it.
