Good question.  For me, I stand more straight (not as low to the floor) during my approach and don't cup my wrist through my release.  I also pick a board and aim for it at the foul line.  What works for me probably doesn't work for everyone.  Also, try slowing your approach down a bit and lower your backswing.

Thanks for your opinion, but i was thinking, is there a possibility that i over-correct myself because i couldnt get it to go straight down, cos i sometimes i purposely use my feet to angle myself to the right quite alot if i cannot throw it straight, but it has proved to be quite inconsistant...opinions??

If your trying to bowl straight down and in but are either pulling or sending the ball wide it's probably because of your timing.  Your timing is probably off a little bit.

Of course i've never seen you bowl so I can't say for sure.  Just look up some articles on timing and see if that's your problem.

More than anything else, when I try to keep the ball straight with the boards, I start slightly farther to the right than I normally would, close my shoulders, (actually have them pointed a little towards the pocket, not my intended line) walk at my mark, and then just cut loose on the shot.  The natural tendency of my shot is to head slightly right off my hand so by doing the other things it all balances out without having to worry about it and I can do it consistantly.

i have the same problem when i have to stand wright and throw straighter. What i have noriced to work is for me to rotate my hand so that the ball is between my hand and my body ,thumb at 11oo with a cupped wrist.Point the ball straight towards your target and dont try to come around the ball. Stay behind it all the way through your target. What I do normaly feeds the ball to the right ,with this release the ball comes off your hand with a much straighter trajectory this gves it lenght and nice back end finish, as well as being less likely to throw it right. be sure to keep a firm wrist and strong with the fingers.
