summer league ugh
« on: August 05, 2015, 07:35:13 AM »
I consider myself a serious bowler and bowl in competitive leagues...This Summer league, that is not competitive and has a mix of good bowlers and some older ladies that are shocked when they get a strike and make a big deal of it...I know, its my mistake for joining etc... BUT I find that I cant bowl in this type of league. Mentally Im drained from the fooling around that goes on and it reaches a point that I dont care if I bowl a 160. Anybody else deal with this?

I would say consider it a practice league. If it's harder to focus, then that's a good thing for it can help you to make yourself concentrate more and focus better.

Also if your summer situation is anything like mine,  if you get an actual "condition", it's a minor miracle. You can bring a wide variety of strike balls to practice adapting to them.

Work on what you need to make yourself better; everyone has room for improvement somewhere in his or her game.

Maybe next summer try to enter a sports league; there seem to be more of them in the summer than in the fall/winter season. (At least around here that seems to be the case.)

Good luck.

We have teams in our center that after every game ends, the bowlers on the teams go outside to smoke and then go to the bar for another drink.  It is not uncommon to have to wait upwards of 10 minutes between games before starting the next game when paired up with one of these teams.

We also have teams that perpetually show up late and we wait around for them to arrive, which puts the affected pair of lanes up to 5 frames behind everyone else for the night.

It never used to be this bad before, but the bowling center is so eager to have league members that they will pretty much tolerate anything and not say a word for fear of losing a customer.  It can be frustrating for those of us that are there for some fun competition.  It takes all of the fun out of it.

Ran into the same thing this summer just used it as practice and fine tuned my game and worked on my weak points.

I've experienced similar type of bowlers in the league when I used to bowl summer. It's everywhere I guess, since it was in two states where I've experience this. At first I was frustrated and irritated, but I realized i cannot control things that bug me. So I accepted them and used my Clear balls, the Gargoyle and RG tire and had fun with it.
