Where is your mark?
« on: March 31, 2007, 08:02:38 AM »
I normally look right around the arrows but I tried something different last night and looked between the dots and the arrows and I seemed to get a lot more turn on the ball.  I'm not sure if it slowed my ball speed down or just got the ball down a little earlier but I had a ton more backend reaction.  The downside was that I was less accurate.  I tried to bring an imaginary line back from my breakpoint to the closer spot but it is difficult to be consistent that way.  I'm hoping if I work on it, it will become easier....

Thanks Long Roller for the great idea. I bowled the PBA experience tonight and really struggled my last three games. I went to practice on a fresh pair after league. Just for kicks I tried to target closer to me at about five feet in front of the arrows. I was bowling on the 41 foot scorpion pattern so I had no area right. This really helped the ball read the pattern a lot better. I stopped spraying the ball right and even if I did get a ball right it did not turn into a disaster. The 2-8-10's I was leaving earlier were now just 2 pins.  Later on as the pair broke down I started to target past the arrows. This was a lot harder to do because I seemed to always miss left. After a little practice it became easier.

I'm telling you, this makes a big difference.  Especially on long oil patterns and tight shots...
