Monthly or Biweekly Tournaments
« on: February 17, 2011, 07:49:53 AM »
I was recently approached by a manager at a local house asking if I would be interested in organizing some type of a tournament that would run probably either monthly or biweekly.  I got to thinking about this and was intrigued by the idea of running a series of tournaments that kept track of points that traveled to as many different houses as would host it.  There would be at least 4 in the area that probably would being they are all AMF houses, with the possiblity of going to other houses in the area as well.  At the end, there would be a final tournament that would have the top 10 in points along with winners from each tournament, with double ups for people in both adding people in the points that didn't make the top 10.

The idea was also thrown out to have each one have their house shot put out as each one's house shot plays very different from the other houses in the area.

What are your guys thoughts on format, cost, etc.  How many events do you think there need to be before the final one?

They were looking to keep it to one day - probably Sunday, as well as a reasonable cost - in the $40 range per tournament.  Part of the amount would be put aside for the final tournament, but a majority would be paid out in the prize fund at each tournament.

I had thought of doing 4 games, with a cut to the top x number of bowlers who bowl 3 games of round robin with bonus pins to go to a 4 man stepladder final.  I would like to have the payout be 1 in 5.

Let me know if anyone knows of anything like this in your area, how it runs, is it successful, and suggestions you may have.

To all the haters, get over it!
