BR The Gathering 2008
« on: July 29, 2007, 02:48:24 PM »
Yes you read it right, 2008.  Last night some of us got to talking about dates for next year. Karen mentioned she has to request her vacation time in December, so we made a decision about next year's gathering.

Location: Creekside Lanes - Winston Salem, North Carolina

Unless something drastic happens, we will hold The Gathering July 24 - 27, 2008.   So mark your calendars and prepare to join the best gathering around!  Don't miss out on all the fun - bowling, eating, bowling, eating, bowling sleeping, bowling, and the pattern continues.  Oh and there is a whole lot of socializing, laughing, and did I mention eating and bowling?

I am sure there will also be a little golf, poker and pool for those so inclined.

I keep looking for that prince charming, but all I find are toads, I mean frogs

I do know a few from the So Cal Ron Clifton Clinics who may make it next year, money is tight this year.  We'll see.

Congrats!  I was just saying to Di that your date was either just past or imminent, and I was surprised I hadn't seen any mention since the announcement.  I'm so happy for you!

Today is the 7th anniversary of the first time Di and I met, and our 3rd wedding anniversary will be this year.  It's so much fun when you get it right!

We're really looking forward to seeing everybody again, and Ken from the "Let's Go Bowling" show has promised to kick in for some tournament prizes.  Later!

Absolutely spartan, it's all about the bowling, making new friends and meeting old ones!  Ron's staff will make you feel part of the family and so will the rest of us.

Glenn,
Congratulations to you and Linda.  I knew it was sometime this month, but forgot the date.  I wish you both the very best!

The Gathering is for everyone, even if they don't know their stuff  As Alakazam said, it is all about meeting new people, making new friends and bowling.  We always have a mix of ages and abilities, the common bond is we all have fun.

and the new people are bowlers, what more could you ask for?

Well, I guess you could ask for rich and monetarily generous bowlers, but as long as you can settle for friendly and companionably (wow that is a word) generous bowlers, you'll enjoy the weekend.

Much to your dismay, I'm here to inform you that three friends and I will be making the trip down.  See you all there.

Now how would this dismay us?  The first time I met you I was pleasantly surprised to see that you are a quiet, well behaved young man, with a sincere desire to improve his game.  Maybe with a few buddies around you'll open up a bit more.  See you there!

Rather than have 2 posts going, I am locking this one.  The newer post - The Gathering 2008 - Roll Call
Has all the info and will be updated as new information comes to light, such as golf times, etc.
