BR2006 - Update
« on: December 25, 2005, 04:58:03 AM »
Here's the latest. Thought I would try and consolidate everything down and find it in one place.  If I've missed your name, let me know.  I'll try and keep this updated as the year goes along.

Ball Reviews / Bowl 4 Fun.com gathering July 21-23

Here is a Yahoo map of where Creekside Lanes is located.

Creekside Lanes
1450 Trademart Blvd.
Winston Salem, NC 27127

My email address if you need more info:
rclifton@triad.rr.com

The hotel I suggest is Extended Stay America. It is clean and cheap!
Use the Winston Salem / Hanes Mall location.
You can find it on www.extendedstayamerica.com for a map. It just one exit from the bowling center.

Don't be intimidated.  There will be averages from high to low.  We're doing this to meet one another and have lots of fun!  Those who want some GREAT coaching will have one of the best available in Ron Clifton.  He's helped me tremendously over the years.

I've met most of the people on the list so far, and there isn't a big head among them.  I've had a great time at every one I've been to.  Don't miss this opportunity!

She's just learning and has a 120 average, though, so I'll have to coax her into going, because she'll feel intimidated. Heck, I'll be out of place even though I've been in a league for 15 years.

Jess

As Strider said all types of averages attend.  Some of the wifes come just to socialize, others bowl.  There is nothing saying she has to bowl...just come and have fun meeting new people.  Bring her equipment even if she doesn't think she will bowl.

Believe it or not NO ONE is out of place.  I was a bit nervous the first time I attended.  I was traveling alone from CA and had not met anyone in person.  This will be my 4th, so obviously I was made to feel welcome and had a great time!  It is like a great big family reunion and new members of the family are added each year

I'll be a cheerleader for the pool...you think my bowling is amusing, you definitely don't want to see me with a pool cue in my hands

Diamond pattern, what else with Ritchie in the house.

Don't know about playing with a house cue though.  Too much bottom weight.

Last time i saw it some follicle impaired dummy had it suspended across lane 21.  Can probably still find splinters in the wall down by 24.

Just a little update, Visionary is putting a package together for us to give away.  Ball, Shirts, towels, totes.

That gives us equipment from Lane 1, Storm and Visionary.  Still working on the other manufacturers.

Thanks Ritchie, Dave, Jason.

Just bring everything ya gots!!  You'll have fun regardless and the competition is more fun than intense.  Creekside is a pretty new center, so I think everything is pretty recent...

Ron runs a 38' THS.  I believe these are the Bruns Proanvil Lanes.  Got the Ray Charles markers down lane.  You can score from anywhere, just have to be consistent at the breakpoint.  Lanes are immaculate, have always had strong backends.

For the Sat bragging rights tournament its a different story.  With the participation we are looking at this year, we may have 8 lanes with 4 different PBA patterns on them.  He never says what the patterns are until after we've bowled.  I'd bring 2 medium oil balls, one heavy, maybe one lite or plastic.

Last year we went 100% handicap off of 200.  Seems like the scores were all pretty close.

I'm hoping to get around 6 balls for this years gathering.  Probably give one away to high scratch male, high scratch female, high HCP male, high HCP female.

We'll have ticket drawing for the other equipment; balls, shirts, towels, totes, etc.

Course, I'm always open for suggestions

Hey, talk to your Dad.  I invited him & Shirley down.  Told him to bring you.  HOWEVER, he said since you never take him on any of your trips, there wasn't anyway you were going to come out on his dime.

Sell some Merkins and pay your own way.

BTW, who didn't show up in St Louis, who was in Thailand when I came to Muskcogee, who is conveniently out of the country every time we schedule something.  Notice a trend?????

You can come BUT only if you bring Dad and Shirley.
