all the background info on this guy for those who don't know is on the southwest forum on the pba website. it's a thumping good read!
-
Tony, great site.
I just spend way too much time reading the thread on the PBA site. I just wish I was in Texas so I could actually see him in Beaumont.
-
Hi guys!
Ok, this site is brand new so it may not be viewable across the whole internet yet (DNS propogation issue) but it should be available in the next day or so.
Just so you know, this young man is 24 years old and is a lane mechanic at a bowling center. He's a decent house bowler, but probably not what I would call the next big thing. This site is a product of the overwhelming interest in how this young man will do. Most do not think he'll do well, but wish him the best.
There are a lot of folks who have offered to donate a little... just to see him bowl the event. So I set up a website and fund to make it happen. This is very legit and all the money will go straight to PBA SW Director Pete McCordic.
$5 is not going to break anyone.
Everyone's help is appreciated!

I sent #3.21. I think he'll wind up at 321 under, so I sent a penny a stick.

I had to send the $5.00 just to see if he will really shoe up.

Will you be adding video from the event? or at least live updates?

I read part of the PBA forum on this guy's request for sponsorship. People are thinking of donating to him to see if he will finish last. To give you an idea of his bowling ability, he was very happy of shooting 650 with a 260 on a house shot. Someone stated he averaged 150-160 at the ABC Tournament with a 100 game. He averages about 200 in a mixed league. That's up from 180+ from the year before. If anyone wants to contribute, it is to see how far down he will finish. Don't expect any money coming back.

I think most people are sending in money for the entertainment value. And you are correct... there is no chance of making money back. This is a donation. I've made it clear that if he cashes (wouldn't that be the talk of the boards?) he keeps all his profits.

How about that?!!
In less than 48 hours we've raised $371 to send Brandon to his first regional event. I have not decided what to do with the extra money, but I think I'm going to arrange for some coaching and maybe get him a couple shirts.
I feel pretty good about this achievement. I wish him the best.
I've reduced the cost of the shirts to $1.00 over cost, to help with all the processing fees I'm eating. Get them while they are cheap!

Actually Big Al donated TWICE!
First with $25, then with $121.86, which was the balance when he sent it (but I hadn't posted some donations yet).
Like him or hate him, Big Al really came though on this one.

That is awesome!

Tony, from what I gathered, the Hose isn't going to make this tournament. Big Al just wanted to make sure he wasn't the red leader.

Hey, who knows, I might just dust off my stuff and bowl in Beaumont. Just think of all the hot chicks that will be there to check out Brandon, Big Al, and myself. I even bought some Brandon Clegg Thongs so my ho's can wear them.

I'd only go if Pete McCordic lets us cross with Brandon.
Brandon is a really nice kid and I've spoken with him on the phone several times. He'll be ready come next month and it wouldn't surprise me for him to have a good showing. A least he doesn't have to worry about paying for it thanks to Tony and Big Al.
This was a real exciting thing for us to pull together in such a short time and it's cool to make a dream come true for Brandon. He's very humbled by all the attention and support he's received.

Haha! I don't think we've sold any thongs. But I see a few t-shirts sold.
For $9.99, it's a good price regardless of what's on it. These shirts are marked-up by $1.00 since I have to pay processing fees (I'm actually $20 in the hole from the PayPal fees alone). I don't want to make any money on this. I'm in it for the fun.
