Title: Brands of Brunswick: Bowling Balls, Bowling Equipment.. Record Label?
Post by: bradl on May 10, 2021, 05:23:24 PM

Weird story, but roll with me for a moment.

I was watching a Youtube video on the channel Professor of Rock the other day, where he goes in deep with with stories of the greatest songs and artists of the rock era, and interviews the artists themselves. Well, this particular video happened to be about the only family ever to have 3 generations of their family hit #1: The Nelsons.

First was Ozzie and Harriet.. yes, the same Ozzie and Harriet from the TV show that was on in the mid-late 1950s that most kids my age saw as reruns on Nick at Nite. From that show came...

Ricky Nelson. Basically he had a friendly rivalry with Elvis for being the teenage heartthrob with a music background. He wrote and sang "Hello, Mary Lou", "Travelin' Man", and "Garden Party". He and his wife had two kids,

Matt and Gunnar Nelson. Yes, those same Nelsons. 1990, Hair metal, though they were severely branded that, they really weren't that. Long story on that; their story is in the video.

Anyway, what got me here is Ozzie and Harriet.. Apparently their first 3 albums, all big big band, in the era of Tommy Dorsey, Bing Crosby, Cab Calloway, etc., were recorded and released on Brunswick Records.

Since Brunswick has had their hand in everything from bowling to pool/billiards to shoes over the past 60 years, anyone know if this was from that same company?

BL.

Doesn't appear to be the same company.

Which brings up the question of whether Columbia records are related to Columbia 300.  Both have been around for a long time.

After going quickly through a long article on Columbia record's history, apparently not.
