broken ankle
« on: March 30, 2009, 05:58:54 AM »
On March 14th I was getting ready to grill some steaks. I pulled the grill from the garage up to the back deck. I had a couple 2 by 12s on the deck that are used for loading a 4 wheeler. I thought I would carry them down to the garage. There is a little hill to walk down and it only took 2 steps on to this hill for me to slip. Both feet slid only the left foot caught in the yard and folded up under me. I fell to my right side knowing something wasn't going to be right when I looked. I looked at my left knee and it was pointed in the right direction but as I followed my leg down my foot was turned 90 degrees to the left. I put my heel into the ground and rotated my foot til it lined up with the rest of my leg. That was 6pm on Saturday, by 8am Sunday I was in surgery to fix the damage. My ankle had 3 breaks in it.

Now, for the bowling part. I have never been on a team to win a league title. As of the injury date both of my teams were leading. I hate the fact that I can't help or finish the year. There was 6 weeks in the one league and 4 weeks in the other that I have paid for but can't bowl in. I wish both teams well but if either team wins, the reward for me will feel a bit hollow.

You have to keep in mind that it took a lot of work to get to this point, and you were there for that.  While things can get tight and interesting the last 4 - 6 weeks, you had to do a lot of good bowling before this.

I wish you a speedy recovery.  It sounds painful and definitely not fun.
