What's the big deal anyway?
« on: November 23, 2010, 01:13:50 AM »
Are egos really that big anymore that true sport bowling is dying a slow death.  It is a real shame that a tournament or sweeper is not considered a success unless the cashers average 240+.  Do you really need to see the high numbers to the right of your name on the standing sheet?  Isn't the low number to the left of your name more important, regardless of how you shoot to get there?

I personally don't mind shooting high scores on easy conditions, it is a lot of fun.  But at the same time I know the conditions were easy.  I get the same satifiaction from grinding out a 190 average on a tough shot as I do from blowing up a 240 average house wall, possibly even more since it takes more thought and effort.

Sorry for the rant, but am I alone in my thoughts on this?

There are definitely bowlers out there that fit your description.  I know of several that exist here in Tucson.  There are several reasons behind this that I could spend all day talking about, but I won't.

In Texas, people will not support a tournament on tough conditions.

Hey man... tell everyone in Tucson that wants to play a tougher shot that they should go to Nogales Bowling Alley. They will see whats a tough bowling alley,in the THS the lanes are different from pair to pair... and do you know whats even tougher??? the PBA EXPERIENCE IN THIS LANES lol... youre gonna see something like a 59Ft "shark" and a 41 "Cheetah" and if you add that the humidity changes a lot you need to move boards every 3 shots.

There's a big difference between stupid tough and difficult but fair conditions.  That's another thread though.
