realistic goals for your bowling season
« on: December 03, 2004, 04:22:17 PM »
I am just curious to hear what people have for a goal during thier bowling season.

Be it, throw a 300, make more 10pin spares  or 7pin spares, have more than one nite where you dont have any opens, pick up a tough split that you cant seem to get, throw more quality shots, raise your avg by some pins.

I think alot of the minor goals get over looked by people shooting for 300's all day long, or people bowling on cake shots and not really caring about throwing consistent shots.

I myself, i would like to have more than 4 nites of bowling where i have no OPENS,  i am also shooting for the 800, since i seem to always come close, but no cigar lol.

One of my biggest goals for the past couple of years has been to get a 200 average.  Well, I have finally accomplished that last night.  I am in 3 leagues, 2 are every week, and I have gotten my average to 200 on the nose in both of them.  The third league I'm in is an every other saturday league, and I got my average to 210, but I've only thrown 12 games there so far.  Now my goal is to hold onto my averages and hopefully keep improving.  Another goal of mine this year was to shoot my first 700 series, which I have also accomplished, 702.  Now to only shoot better than that.  Last year I shot my high game of 299, and this year I would like to get the 300 out of the way.  That is alot to ask for in one season, at least to me, but I know I can do most of it.  Lately I have been bowling out of my mind, & I'm loving every minuate of it.

Sorry if it seems that I'm bragging or what not, but I'm just excited, and those are plain and simple the goals I've had set for myself.

Oh yeah, another thing that would be nice would to be on a winning team for once, 2 of my teams are close.

My goal for the 2004-2005 season.
Increase my average by at least 5 or 6 pins, currently at 217.

Concentrate on all my spare shooting(especially that d*mn 10 pin).

Shoot 300, it's always eluded me for some reason.

And to get out and practice more.(Maybe that's the reason I keep missing that d*mn 10 pin).

And another thing is to win my league, currently in 4th place.

My goals as of right now are to shoot my first 700, bring my average up to at least 180 in league, and be more consistent with spares.

Edit: Also, just thought of it. Another goal is to win the roll offs next week to win the first half of the season, and hopefully win the second half to.

Since I moved and probably won't bowl league the rest of the season, I'm going to let Ron Clifton radically alter my grip.  About 1/2 shorter grip, more than 3/4 more forward thumb pitch, and hopefully no pressure needed to hold on to the ball.  My goal is to learn how to re-throw the ball without muscle.  I want to throw the ball well and hopefully get rid of my wrist brace.  Score won't matter at first, but I'd like to get my average close to what it is now eventually.

800 would be nice, but I'll settle for a 750+ series.  3 career 300 games and no 750 (735 high).  A nice of good consistent bowling is all I ask.
