What Does It Feel Like When You Are N The Zone

When I am in my zone everything is moving in slow motion.  Not really concentrating on form but just looking @ the mark and let my arm and hand do there thing..  

230 game you have to concentrate but the real game when you are perfect or 2 frames from being perfect are the games I am talking about about...

What does it feel like when u are in your zone...

I strung 8 in a row last week. Maybe not much for most of these guys here but it's the best I've ever done so it was a big thing for me. I never thought about anything but the first frame where I was stupid and tried for a 4-7-10. I know, I should have gotten my 2 and sat down but being the 'chest thumping' guy I was at the time, I was stupid and tried to pick them up, oh well.

That's all I thought about, stop being stupid, get what you can get and move on. It wasn't until the 7th or 8th frame that my team mate said how well I was doing that it sunk in I was bowling my butt off, for me anyway. Only other thought was how my thumb didn't feel right, looking later I had a 1/4 inch cut on it, I knew it didn't feel right.

Point is, I really didn't think about the run, just bowled. I seem to do better when I don't worry, think or over think about it, just line up and bowl. That's how it was with my all spares game and the Triplicate, just do it. Works for me.

The times I can recall being in "the zone" felt the same. Everything was blocked out and the brain was "off".

1991 San Antonio YABA City Tournament was great because the team event wa sin my home house and the S/D was out a house I loved. Shot 745 in singles and won singles and all-events scratch.

My first 300 was strange because I was rattling on about baseball and a teammate was trying to get away so he wouldn't break my concentration. I said to him "where are you going?!"

The second one was two years ago and it was just silent.

State tournament in 2004 was a full zone weekend. Almost every shot felt good off the hand and nothing ever bothered me.

My best series overall was after a mediocre singles round and I killed doubles with 772! Again, every shot just felt really good and nothing bothered me.

I need more of those.

No guts, no glory!  Just think if you'd gone off the sheet, 290 to 279 is a much bigger deal than 279 to 277 - therefore, well worth the risk IMO.

However, towards the end of the game and the match is tight - take the 2 for your team.

I learned my lesson on that. I had a few splits in the PBA league and its a scratch league. Well one night I had a few splits and I would try to pick them up going fast and straight, well I missed a few probably lost about 5-8 pins. figured ya know, no big deal its just a couple of pins, well that night we lost the overall total pin fall by about 2-3 pins!

From now on, if we get a split one of us always says "every pin counts" and it does.

Did you ever see the movie 'Old School' where Will Ferrell fields the question from James Karavil (Sp) and once he is done with the answer he kinda shivers and asks what just happened???? that is what being in the zone is
