REVIEW Example!!!!
« on: December 08, 2005, 03:49:35 AM »
Below is the link to a review of a ball, which the user calls a "mini-review"!!  This is more than a mini, BUT if those here who post reviews that are just comments, without any technical data (i.e. ball stinks, or the scores they shot and ball movement) could at least include ball specs or drill layout (i.e. follow the first part of this review), there would be no deleting of stupid reviews.  GREAT review format, or at least a template, even if only part of it is used. I am amazed at the detail in this review!!

Below is a cut and pasted review of a Brunswick ball (user to stay unidentified).  It should be posted in the Brunswick forum, NOT a ball review.  There are some that are far worse.  This is just one small example of what a review IS NOT!!  Please help by following the good ones because there are some new bowlers (and even the experienced ones) that look at the reviews for some serious information, and ones like this could mislead a beginner to the wrong conclusion, and ultimately the wrong ball choice.

Come on people, ball specs, lane conditions, and if no profile entered, then some profile info.  Ones like this should be deleted, as they just take up space, and give no answers to questions, only create more questions.

This ball is awesome. I got it from one of my friends for 20 bucks and boy was it worth it. I had to re drill it because the span was too big , but once I got it drilled, i fell in love. This ball hooks so much, which is perfect for me. And when that ball hits the pocket, the pins are buried alive. This ball is bo solid, it raised my average 30 pins.

After nearly 5 years, have you not figured out that the reviews will ALWAYS be like that unless you create a template??? Bowlingballreviews.com had about the best template out there. I'm working on one as well. You give people free space, they will write whatever they want.

Couldn't agree more!

Hey Saw Mill and BR Gang, thanks for the kind words. I joined Ballreviews 3 years ago with the intent of actually reading reviews! It has become more than just that and I give credit to many people here that have given advice through the forum and even speaking with the staffers as well. I think we are all lucky to have this site up!

Anyways, I try to write a review how I would like to read them. Basically, I put as much information I can into the review so that the person reading it understands what I'm going through. If you look at my format, I try to list everything I can about the ball, layout, type of lane condition, type of lane, what type of reaction I got "that day." and also try to compare the reaction to another ball (Helps if the other ball is laid out the same way, but this isn't always the case.)

Thanks for reading!

Hey Ram,
Great review.....I don't think you missed anything....

If people keep writing lame reviews, then I hope the MODS delete them, as they seem to be catching a few.  I posted the example, and IF PEOPLE CAN READ, I am sure that they can post a review.  Far be it for ANYONE to expect standards, or hold people accountable for refusing to follow simple requests.  Man, soon this place and the world will just say, "go ahead, you don't have to follow any rules, and as for standards, they are whatever you set for yourself.

If Ramtart can do a review like that after reviewing other good ones, and for only being on the site for 3 years, I think that we can expect others who have been around for more years than that.  Great job to RT.
