I don't know which makes me madder...

Bowling well but not scoring, or bowling like crap but shooting good numbers. Tonight was the latter.

Threw it all over the place, bad timing, bad speed control, hit the pocket about five times in three games -- and still shot +5 versus my average and twice struck out when it mattered in the 10th (on some supremely horrible-looking shots, too). And I feel absolutely horrible about it.

Other nights, though, I've pounded the pocket and shot 540. So maybe I should be thrilled.

Perhaps you take it too seriously?  As was said earlier, it all evens out eventually.  Which is why I really see no reason to bag.  One night you're shooting 750 and not throwing it particularly well, the next week you're shooting 610 throwing it great.

i tend to not get upset at pounding the pocket to shoot 550 or so...unless it cost us any games.  i would get mad if i shot 625 with inconsistent execution.  i just prefer 7 pins over splits.  

last few weeks i had been a bit frustrated with carry but its due to my release as best as i can tell..tonite i carried much better.

I know how ya feel Jess.  The last few weeks I've made a couple of good changes in my game and made some serious breakthroughs.  I stand up there and throw quality shot after quality, in the pocket all night long and just can't seem to carry to save my life.  When I do make a mistake, no matter how small, I always pay with a split.

Earlier in the season I had nights that I felt like a shotgun and yet shot well.  The night I shot 299 I was all over the place....still can't figure how I got 11 shots to carry and the one that I throw good doesn't.

Just keep plugging along and don't let it get to you.  Things even out in the end....just keep making those good shots and try to ignore the scores.

But I feel ya man.

I also felt pretty bad for the guy I was matched up against. He's a friend of mine and one of the best bowlers in the association. He beat me series but I got him two out of three individual games and didn't deserve to beat him either time.

First game, we go to the 10th tied. First ball, he pures it and strikes. I throw one of my better balls of the night and also strike. Second shot, I throw it too fast, almost spin it, and get a light trash strike where the 7-pin is the last thing to go and it just kind of faints off the lane. Jim gets up, drills the pocket but leaves a 4-pin.

Third game, same basic scenario. Needing to go XXX to lock him out, I do just that on two terrible shots where I should have left split-split and one mixer. (He beat me in the second game 260-something to 190.) I apologized to him afterward. There's no way I should have been anywhere close to him.

i hate when im bowling fairly decent and get bad breaks.   yet the other people were bowling get good breaks  ( carrying strikes thru the nose or crossing over all 5 times for a 5 bagger)  or you hit flush all night leave ringing corners or the like, tug one and go brooklyn and carry all ten.  gotta love it.
