Frames software
« on: December 15, 2006, 06:26:01 AM »
Is anyone using this?  I've already got a Palm handheld, and I've been thinking about starting to track my stats to see where I can improve most.  Just wondering if it's worth the $40.

I have the PocketPC version of frames. It's solid piece of software, very easy to use and it can compile all kinds of stats.

That said, I don't use it too much anymore. My PocketPC has auto shut off and I found it annoying to power up my device every few minutes to enter data. I print score sheets at home and bring them to the center. There I record my data with pen and paper. Once I get home I enter the data into my pc.

Frames has a free trial so give it a spin. If you're interested in desktop stat programs check out this page. Most of these programs have free trials as well.

It's handy if you bowl in different centers, or love stats.  I have the pockpc version and use it primarily to keep track of my spare percentages.  It's nice that when I go to a house I've already bowled in, it can tell me how to play the lanes, but it's only for stats at my home house.  I'd recommend it strongly for someone in a traveling league, or bowls a lot of tourny's, but if you only bowl in one house on a given pattern, it's o.k.

If you don't want to lose data when your battery dies (guilty), or try to read the binary interpretation of the pin leaves that you get from Frames, try it the old fashioned way!
