For those of you that clean Microfiber Towels, how do you clean them? I wash mine in warm water in the sink using Dawn Dish Washing soap as a detergent or Tide. It gets them clean, but they are never soft again, no matter how many times I rinse the soap out of them. They are sort of stiff after dried and never have the same soft feel when wiping the ball, so not sure how good they are doing the job or not. Since you can find them at Wal-Mart for something like 4 or 5 for $5, is it better to use them until dirty and then throw them away?

I do like you say other than I don't use scalding hot water, but do air dry them though. Will the scalding hot water help soften them? I do know they say not to use fabric softener when wshing them.

I have a Home Depot about 5 minutes from my house. I'll look into that and see if they have that deal here.

Same here. Even though the towels feel a bit stiff, it does not hamper function - I rather suspect that it is the hard water around here which leaves lots of calcium carbonate in the cloth/textures.

There's a special way to clean microfiber towels? I've been washing them like any other laundry for the past two years with no problems, they still work as intended. go figure....

There are cleaning instructions included. Being "macho" men, I suppose none of you actually read them. Basically put washer on gentle or delicate cycle. Dry on same, gentle or delicate, and don't use fabric softeners in the washing or drying.
Brick, 99% chance you're just using too darned much soap and not rinsing it all out of the towels.
Don't make this more complicated than it has to be.

Charlest, I was wondering the same thing and concede that you may very well be right as I do use a lot of soap by pouring a generous anount of Dawn on both sides of towel.
I fear washing them in the washing machine though because my wife uses fabric softener on everything and I worry about there still being some not 100% rinsed out of the tub.

Jim,
Especially dawn. It's a very strong soap. You need very little.
FYI it's great for ball washing in the hot tub soak treatment.
Don't worry about the softener not being rinsed out of the tub.The rinse cycle is thorough and nothing sticks to those tubs (enamel or stainless steel) unless they're chipped or cracked. Just get 4 or 5 dirty towels, put the wash on delicate and small load, a little bit of Tide (less is better) or whatever your wife uses, and push START. If they come out dirty you can do it again with slightly more detergent. I mean SLIGHTLY!!!!

Milo, I went to Home Depot here in OKC today and bought a bag of Microfiber towels, but the ones here are 14 x 14 and 24 in a bag for $10. They are all thinner than my other towels purchased at Wal-Mart and Lowes, but if they will still do the job, then that is all that matters.

My local Home Depot used to stock a blue towel was was a bit thinner and smaller than the last couple of times I bought them. The newer ones are bright orange, thicker and 16 X 12.
Here is a pic of the label for the ones I bought.

Okay, okay. You two are sounding like a couple of old ladies discussing the White Sale at Macy's. Go to any auto parts store and you can get microfiber towels cheap. Wash as any other towel but NO fabric softener. Tumble dry on low. Good as new.

Funny you mention that. I'm eating lunch at Hooters for the first time in a couple of years and a couple comes in. Business attire. White dude wearing a cream colored vest with a tan suit and ORANGE tie and shoes! I was going to ask if he was some kind of district manager for Hooters or if the circus was in town but didn't have the chance.

I buy them at Dollar Tree. 2 towels for $1.00.
Gets you 20 towels for $10.00. A little more money, but Dollar Tree is right down the street.

I find that the microfiber towels that I find at Menards, Walmart and Autozone can be washed and cleaned better then some of the ones I buy in the pro shop.
