clearance ball help
« on: February 04, 2019, 02:59:32 PM »
So as many(some?) have seen, i'm looking for a big assym solid, but also trying to save a few bucks because this isn't a ball i'll use outside of my sport shot league on certain conditions.  And all balls listed, even when i take it in and pay full price for drilling, will be cheaper than anything i can purchase in pro shop.

So without further ado, lemme know if anyone has had successes or failures with these options:

Ebonite Verdict $75
Radical Quick Fix $89
Columbia Lit $99
Columbia Saber $99
Radical The Fix $99
Radical Katana Dragon $99
Radical More Cash $102
900 global Tactical Ops $109
hammer Black Widow Assassin $129.99(this one is a bit high for my liking but i've always wanted to try a gas mask core)

any help on these would be greatly appreciated, most of them came out before i was back into bowling

If you want to try the gas mask core, the Dark Legend Solid often sells for $110 on a lot of sites.

On your list, the Lit and Katana Dragon will handle the most oil

As much as I'll tell anyone to always put holes in it if it has the word Ops in it, it's a pearl. Great pearl, but still a pearl.

Out of your list, Lit or Dragon. Dragon may be one of the most usable high end Radical pieces I've seen in a good long while.

The Lit is a really good ball. Not very popular, like virtually all Columbia 300 balls, but a quality piece if you're looking for a high-end oiler.

I'd go with the Dragon though. Just as long as you're actually using it on heavy oil. It isn't going to work well on much else.

Verdict isn't a snow tire but that's a damn good price for one.

Yeah I’m starting to lean dragon too. And that’s why I want that lower price point. I’ll never pull it out for league, and even on most sport shots it won’t come out of the bag. But it has a place in the bag. And at $155 after I get it and get it drilled, it’ll fit that at a bargain, given everything else will be $200+

Lit is fairly similar to an Alpha Crux to me. It is smoother with that hook stop kinda feel. Not super strong up front, but gets the job done. Dragon is a better oiler, but as mentioned, definitely needs the oil. Verdict is a sleeper ball in my opinion that handles oil very well, but doesn't need a flood.

I like my symmetric drilled Fix a lot more than my More Cash.  More versatile overall.
Here today.  Gone tomorrow.

I was definitely intrigued by the price. And it’s a good look. But from what I’ve seen it’s got some mixed reviews.

99.99 for the Katana Dragon is a monster deal, you can always play with the surface to make it work. I just picked one up and will probably take the surface up to 4000 to make it more playable on more conditions.

Well....to me you got the best deal right at the top!

That damn Verdict is a sleeper of all sleepers! I've seen low rev fluffers score with it! I've seen down and in strokers score with it! And just recently, my teammate went out and got one. He throws it pretty hard with a ton of revs though. He's usually around 18mph when he let's it go, but man does this thing carry!

He took the surface to 500/2000 matte finish! For him this ball is a keeper!

That Lit is also a strong performer. Kind of underrated in my book. Don't see many people with them but it is a great oiler.

The Saber to me is longer than the Lit with a different motion downlane. I wouldn't really call it an oiler though.

More than one person has recommended a Katana Dragon to me but I have yet to see one thrown!

I agree, the Verdict is the pick-up on this list.

I think the Dragon was a bit of a flop or just vastly overshadowed by the Slash and Conspiracy.
