Hy-Road weaker than tropical breeze?
« on: January 23, 2016, 06:57:31 AM »
So I've been wondering why my Hy-Road won't hook as much as my tropical Breeze. Both are OOB finish at 1500 polish. Hy-Road has a stronger layout. I just bought the Hy-Road and this was the second time I've used it. My Tropical Breeze I've had for a good 9 months. My Tropical Breeze is about 6-8 boards stronger than my Hy-Road, can't figure out why that is the case... Ball hasn't died as it is brand new... Any thoughts?

Just resolved the issue. Being a two-hander I only use the finger holes... The grips on my Hy-road were a bit slimy and caused my release to be different. It caused me to track on the finger holes and made the ball hydroplane as it doesn't have proper traction with the lane. Got new grips, all good now.

You said the HR was brand new.  How did the grips get so slimy they had to be replaced?  Couldn't you have just cleaned them with acetone?  --  JohnP

I don't know, the guy ran out of grips that I wanted, he only had vise. Nothing against vise inserts, but all the other balls have turbo, want to have a consistent feel from ball to ball. He had some old ones that I used just temporarily until I got the new ones. Anyways, problem resolved so no big hassle.
