Comparison please - Revolt Vengeance, Primo, Melee Jab
« on: August 26, 2015, 09:02:54 AM »
Time to choose my next ball. I pretty much narrowed it down to the three balls listed above, although I'm also willing to consider the Covert Revolt, and maybe Gamebreaker2. I have personal history and reasons to choose or deny each of the three companies listed above, and I feel that may be clouding my judgment, so I'm looking for an objective opinion. Almost everything I throw is smooth rolling early, and I'm really looking for something to kick out corners better on the left-hand side with my low-rev style. I think my normal condition these days is medium oil, which may be why I've been making a mistake in my current arsenal, expecting more oil than I'm actually seeing. If I had to give further information, I would say that I'm looking for something with a little more punch then my Raptor P7.

Thanks in advance

I can't really comment on the Vengeance as I haven't seen one but we have quite a few guys throwing the Jab and the Primo. Primo is much stronger and a little earlier than the Jab. Jab leans more as a ball to step down to once the pattern is broken in a little the Primo is a ball I would take out of the bag first. Both great balls and I think the Jab would make a good step down from the Primo if you wanted both.

Thanks, that's good to know. Any thoughts on the Primo as to angularity?

I can only speak to the Jab, which is one of the best balls I've ever thrown. Very versatile, VERY smooth, clean through the fronts. I am also low revs and sow speed and can play deeper with this ball than any I've ever played with once the shot opens up. It gets a lot of length out of box so don't be afraid to drill it aggressively.

Too bad the Melees don't really have the sexy factor because all three are great. The Cross and Jab are a great 1-2 punch.

I have the jab and it is very skid flip for me. The thing I love most about this ball is that even though it is angular, the low rg still picks up early enough so you don't throw through the mids. I threw the primo at a demo day and compared to my jab, it is earlier and smoother. I would classify the primo as a good benchmark ball. So if your looking for more back-end and a ball for true medium conditions the jab would be a great option. I also have mine drilled pretty aggressively, pin is above slightly right of my ring finger and cg kicked out with an added weight hole.

The Primo is less angular than the Jab. The Primo's move is kind of in between it's not super angular like a Sky Rocket or even the Jab but the move it makes is a very powerful I'll call it Slurve for lack of a better term.

One warning all three bowlers I've seen with this ball have been more power guys I imagine a lower speed bowler will see even more movement out of this ball. From my thoughts I have been impressed but without a doubt it's a strong ball.

Sounds good, thanks for the input. Now if we can get some comments on the Revolt Vengeance compared to either of these two, I'll be all set.

Here's a comment on the vengeance, your going to spend $25 more than either 2 other balls for the same kind of motion. Go with the jab, it is as angular as any of the stuff that comes out of Utah.

+1 ... Motiv covers are some of if not the longest lasting covers on today's balls.

To be quite honest with you, Brunswick covers are very durable. Probably the most  durable of any other brand I have thrown and I have thrown them all. The only motiv ball I have ever owned was a GT-1, it was good, nothing special but I didn't have it long enough to test the durability of the cover.

That ball came out 6 or so years ago. That would be like me comparing the Twisted Fury to today's technology. And we don't want that now do we?

Motiv covers have improved greatly since the GT1.  If you have not tried them lately you are missing out.  Vengeance is on order for me....
MOTIV Jackal LE .................40 x 4.5 x 40 p2.5
MOTIV Revolt Vengeance......45 x 4.0 x 50 p3
MOTIV Forza GT ..................50 x 4.0 x 70 p2.5
MOTIV Sigma Sting..............50 x 4.0 x 45 p3
