Title: confusing start to season
Post by: abrown on August 29, 2014, 09:30:19 PM
little venting sorry guys. after finishing the summer leagues up with my normal 225- 228 avg range i have struggled the start of this season with my carry. the past two weeks ive been locked on on the pocket but no matter what ball or what adjusments i make i cant get the back row out. ive tried everything fro up the boards to my roots of swinging the ball and havnt had a problem hitting my mark and getting to the pocket but just cant get a run last night i tried every line that i could and mearly shot a mid 6, while still respecable just frustrating to have one ball all night that wasnt prety solid and it carried. last week was the same but a lower 6. anyone ever went threw this? venting done thanks

Sometimes thats how it is, you can throw it all over the center and shoot 720+, make good shots, hit what you're looking at and shoot 640. Take it all in stride. All you can do.

New pins? How everyone else score?

Sounds like you may be "pressing" a bit.  Relax, and pry the ball off your hand, and enjoy the game.  Simplify things by starting with the line to the pocket that you know you'll find good reaction, and, once again, RELAX

Your best scores probably happened when you weren't trying to score big, but got into a "relaxed focus" and things just fell into place.  Internal pressure (because you want to do well) can be good or bad, but it needs to be controlled.  Slow your heart rate, and find that "happy place" before you pick up your next ball.

Top performers realize that the mental side of any physical endeavor is every bit as important as the physical, because it allows the physical to perform unencumbered.

We've all been there, too.  Good luck as you move forward.

the key to getting the best carry is making sure you have enough stored energy at the pins
i do not know if this is what you were seeing or not.
i have had many nights where i was pounding the pocket, but just not carrying well enough.
For me, i tend to help it slightly at the line.
i spent the summer working on this and so far, i am much cleaner up front which enables me to have more energy at the pins.
just food for thought on what i was experiencing
