The last time I used 12lbs was when I was like 10 years old lol.  I noticed a lot of bowlers in my league are using lighter balls (12-14lbs).  People ask me how come my balls always "destroy" the pins.  Well, try using 15lbs or more and throwing the ball 20 mph with decent revs...

Too heavy for what?

This 79+ year old man throws 12# balls because anything heavier is too heavy for him. In fact I just sold a New 13# Motiv Octane Burn cheap with only 5 games on it because it was too heavy for me.

Brickguy221, I was talking about people in their 20-40 range who use light balls so they can hook across entire lane and think they look cool doing so.  They don't look so cool when their ball deflects on anything but a perfect pocket shot at the perfect entry angle.  15-16lbs increases the range of user error because light hits send pins flying side to side.  Flush shots send pins back.  High hits don't leave splits much.  I usually leave no more than 1 split every 30 frames.  Now if I could only pick up single pin spares on a week to week basis, my average would be 220-230, not 210. :/
