Heavy Oil Ball?
« on: April 09, 2006, 03:43:17 AM »
What ball is really meant for HEAVY OIL? My lanes for some reason switched a their whole oil pattern from Light to Dry lanes, to Heavy or almost Flooded oil. I was wondering what ball really hooks nice in the Heaviest oil and keeps hooking, because all i have now are a Hammmer Switch Blade and Track Solution PPEX, and they don't hook good at all in Heavy oil

I love my Brunswick Swamp Monster, that's if you can find one. This is one of the last big particle balls left.

Well of course every ball on the market that has a price tag that's on the high end is designed for heavy oil.  From what I've thrown, the Road Hawg handles heavy oil the best.  That's just what I've thrown in OOB finish.  I've seen the Scorchin' handle heavy oil as well as the BIG ONE, but I've never thrown them, so I can't accurately recommend them.

Best of Luck!

Hands down, the Action is the most ball I have ever thrown, and I have gone thru a littany of "heavy oil" balls in my time.

If your looking for a midprice oiler, look at the Goliath. It's a high load particle I think from the BVP line.

EPX T1 hands-down.

They can be had on eBay NIB for around $100 shipped (that's what I paid for each of mine).

Yes, there is enough oil and no, the ball is not rolling-out.

Here is a list of balls i'm currently looking at:

- Ebonite The One
- Ebonite The Big One
- Hammer Hawgs (hawg, wild, road, and new one)
- Columbia Action Packed
- Columbia EPX-T1

Any other ball good, or any ball that might as well be taken off the list because it wouldn't work the way i want it to?

The Action Packed goes a lot longer, for me it SKATED on any oil whatsoever (until I sanded off the polish, then it was nice).  The EPX T-1 don't even get me started on that one.  I have a slower ball speed and medium revs as well.

Take off The One.
Keep the Big One.
Take off the Action Packed
Don't risk your money on an EPX.
As for Hammer, the Road Hawg is aggresive, but i don't think meant for a lot of oil. The Original Hawg, I've heard good and bad. The Hawg Wild, i'm not sure if its as aggressive as you want. I wouldn't trust any of them on heavy oil (not to say that they're not good balls)

Put the Track Robo-Rule on there.
Put the RG Epic and Epic Battle on there.
Put the Morich Total Shock and Awe on there.
Put the MOrich Seek & Destroy on there.
Put a Paradigm Passion on there if you wanna spend the extra money.
Put the Lanemasters/Legends Big Bang and World Class on there.

Now you got some semblence of heavy oil balls.
