What modern ball is similiar to the original ebonite gamebreaker?
I am thinking roto grip rumble. Both solid covers, rg 2.4/2.5, core shape close.
Any professional input would be helpful.
-
Ck the differential on boh balls, probably a big difference
-
Not even close, while I have a general disdain for Ebonite and their substandard balls, the Gamebreaker is a Top 5 ball, ever. I think the most similar ball would be the IQ Tour Solid, but that ball doesn't have near as much motion as a Gamebreaker.
-
If you look strictly at core numbers, the Motiv Covert Revolt and Gamebreaker are close (2.47 vs 2.45 at 15 lbs, 2.46 vs 2.45 at 16 lbs). In terms of strength, the Revolt is probably a bit stronger overall yet still relatively smooth. Both balls were/are predictable and offer a lot of versatility.

Find a AMF Darkness on eBay. 2.48 and 0.054. I have one, and it's amazing.
-
I have had a Gamebreaker and currently have a Motiv Covert Revolt. For me, the balls are very similar.
-
Columbia 300 Disruption 2000 grit sanded will get you where you want to be.
-
Second on the AMF Darkness. It gives me the closest reaction I have had to the Gamebreaker. Length is similar and total hook is about the same as when the Gamebreaker was released the only difference is the Gamebreaker was a tad sharper on the back end not a ton but it is a slight difference.
-
rumor has it, the gamebreaker will be re-released or re-issued this fall
-
Actually I got a very similar look from my IQ Solid as the game breaker. Very smooth off the break point. IQ is stronger shell out of the box, but put 4000 on it and let it polish to the lane.

it would have to have a different core. The original core was grandfathered in and allowed 1 re-release. Which was a few years ago. After production halted, I was told that was it for that core. In all reality though, can Ebonite not make a new ball worth keeping on the market for 6 months?
-
RG numbers are little different but shape wise and amount of hook, I would tell you to look at the new Brunswick Melee Cross. Had gamebreakers galore when they were out and in today's line for that same look I look at the Cross and Hyroad Solid (didn't look at the numbers on that)
-
I'd go hyroad solid and pretend! I can manipulate that hook shape very confidently. Oh yeah I love my victory road solid too...
-
I would have to second the Melee Cross and toss in the Radical Yeti Unleashed. The numbers on the Unleashed are close, no doubt the cover is stronger. The Radical drill sheet is spot on for reaction shape too. So you could put your favorite drilling on or pick one from the sheet and know it's going to perform as advertised.
-
I have a pin down Endure with a weight hole 6 3/4 from the pin. With some added surface it is very close to the look and motion of the gamebreaker. Pin down reduces the RG a bit to make it closer to the Game Breaker's and the weight hole adds some flare back into the ball.
-
Why not wait until Ebonite brings out their mid performance ball on Aug.19th? I think I'd wait seems it might be a good one and rumour has it hs some qualities of the Gamebreaker.
-
It's been a while since I have seen so much buzz (up here) without anything concrete.

How is this different than any other Cyclone? GB 10.7 cover and same core? Are you saying the regular Cyclone's are not solid GB 10.7 or? Just wondering?

According to BTM and Bowlers Journal (spreadsheet and review) the 'regular' Cyclones are pearl versions of the cover. Fwiw.

But according to Ebonite, when the Cyclone first came out, all Cyclones are solids.
