Going to a Demo Day
« on: October 17, 2014, 11:16:25 AM »
Amazing how things work out. I was getting ready to set up an appointment with the proshop to discuss what ball my daughter should get, and just by luck the shop is having a demo day this weekend.

I never been to one. I have been doing alot of research and trying to find a good benchmark ball for her. Since she moved up to throwing 14lbs. The two bowling balls she has right now have been donations. Both balls that have been plugged a couple of times each.

I'd say it's time for NIB bowl then... even if it's not a high end.

What ball company is sponsoring the "Demo Day"?  Storm?  She probly could find a pretty decent ball in an easier price line.  Some shops give discounts for buying at Demo Days.

It is Ebonite. (I guess the choices will be Ebonite, Hammer, Columbia300, and Track)

Well. That was an interesting morning. My daughter threw several balls and was totally surprised what worked best for her.

Well actually two things surprised me. 1st was she threw a ball with a shorter span. Her original span was 4". I was discussing this with guys running the demo. They suggested her trying a ball with shorter span (3  3/4"). Her track dropped off the thumb hole and she was getting more rotation.

Now for the ball surprise. The Track Mx16 was the best ball for her.  It seemed to giver her the best movement. The guy also said that when she gets her own ball that the MB can be moved over 1 1/2" from the thumb and would give her a little more movement.

I believe all their demo balls had the MB in the thumb hole and the pins were directly above the fingers.
