Dexter shoe question
« on: December 14, 2020, 09:29:47 AM »
Hey guys, I have a question on the heels for The 9's.  I just bought a pair of The 9's to replace my SST 8's and was told they both use the same sized heels.  I was hoping to be able to put my favorite heel on the new shoes as I hate breaking in new heels but it's about an inch wider so it hangs over the edges of the shoes.  I've looked around the internet and can't find a definitive answer if the heels for the 9's come narrower or if you're just supposed to cut down the heels to fit.  I don't want to order a new heel only to have to cut it down anyways as I have a few heels from the SST 8's already.

Shoe update (in case anyone cares):

I finally tried out the 9's in a practice session with the sawtooth heel that comes with the shoe and it actually felt pretty good, slipped just a bit 2 times over the course of 3 games but nothing too bad.  So knowing I can use this heel I decided to cut my favorite heel to fit these shoes because if I ruined it, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.  Surprised to say the cutting went well and I sanded down all the cut edges with 80 grit to smooth it out and it looks ok.  Now I just need to test out the old heel after cutting to make sure the new edges don't create footing issues.

Even though this didn't turn out to be as big of a deal as I thought it might, I still think it's horrible of Dexter to require people to cut their own heels to fit their "best" shoe.

BTW, when taking off the heel that came with the shoe, it said 10M on the felt side so Dexter must have bins of these precut to put on the new shoes going out, no reason they can't sell the correct sized heels to their customers.
