Ever shot a 700 and....
« on: September 08, 2006, 03:48:53 PM »
Last night in league I shot 715, and wasnt happy.  First off, I started with a 256.

x  7/  9-  x  x  x  x  x  x  xx8

My miss was a 10 pin and have been struggling with them as of late.  I will miss them by a board or two to the left.  I try to throw it as the same as a strike ball (as far as release), and throw a white dot at it.

Second game I went 203

x  9/ s8/ s63 x  x  x  x  x s53

In the thrid fame I left a 2-10 and luckly picked it up, but the next frame I left something wash out, 1-2-4-10 If I remember correctly, and what kills me was that I moved 5 boards left to overcome the lanes drying up starting the second game, which has been happening latley.  Last night, it didnt happen, the oil carried down, and the ball just went down too far before it broke.  The 10th, I popped my back and left the 1,2,4,6,10.  Couldnt do anything about that.

The last game I shot another 256

x  9-  x  x  x  x  x  x  x  x9-

I did again left a 10 pin in the second frame and missed it by just nicking it and making it wobble.  In the tenth I left a 4 pin and missed that by a board to the right, again throwing the white dot for both spares.

I would say that this was the worst 700 of my life, as I missed 3 very makable spares, and making a move that I should of not made untill the time was right.

I think Bones' latest post about low average teams beating high average teams applies here.  Someone there made the comment that you always remember getting stomped but you never remember doing the stomping.

You've got this laserbeam focus on the three missed spares while completely ignoring the 25 or so strikes.  You threw, somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 good shots (you sound like you'd whine if they were Brooklyn or anything less than perfect) and you're completely throwing them by the wayside.  Presumably the 9- were also good shots on the first ball.  So probably close to 30 good shots.

And you're blind to everything but the two or three bad shots?  I coulda had a 900 series if it weren't for the 15 or 20 non-strikes I got last night.

Nice bowling.

Poor spare shooting.

700 is good missing a couple of spares is not that bad.
Look at the good shots you made.

Go out and work on your spare game.

To practice on picking the ten pin up do this:

Take a ball that hooks and try to flatten out at just the ten pin and do this for awhile until you consistently pick them up and then swith back to the white dot, you will not miss to the left anymore.  Try this and you should be able to pick that damn pin up.

Yet another riviting post from BrianCRX90.

Centers I understand where you're coming from.  And I applaud it.  I think you're unhappy for the right reason.  Yes, you should be please about 700.  Yes, you should be unhappy at missing easy spares and making a bad change.  It shows that you care about actually bowling well, rather than just scoring.
