USBC Proposals
« on: June 24, 2005, 01:53:54 AM »
Unlike many of the peope who have commented about the
new proposals,I have no technical reasons to be against
them. My reasons are entirely monetary. I don't buy
several new balls every year as some of the people who
have commented do. I may only buy a new ball every four,
five or six years. As of now, I have three balls I use
and all have a balance hole. I know many people here
that are still using balls that are 10 years old or older.
If the proposed rules are passed. Who is going to enforce
them? Who is going to check every ball used in a league to
see if it meets the new standards? I can almost guarantee
that the lane owners won't, and most the association and
league officers won't have the expertise.
If they want to put these rules in for tournaments and
for the PBA perhaps they can be enforced but I would bet
that participation in their tournaments will decline a
great deal.
If the new proposals are enacted I would predict a a
lot of bowlers will vote to just bowl in non-sanctioned
leagues. I'm sure that a lot of bowlers in the past joined
ABC only because their league required it. If you start
making it too much of hardship to join, they will just not
bowl in a sanctioned league or quit bowing leagues all
together.
