I was just thinking about this as I've been bowling more tournaments this year where having at least one older ball in my bag has come in handy. Do you find that sometimes the older urethane and resin offerings can smooth out the conditions you may face easier than some of the new offerings? I guess that's why I've never retired my El Nino Wrath- and I love having a Hot Wire for similar reasons...
What are some of the balls that are still in your bag for league or tournament action that may get you strange looks from other bowlers but leave you smiling when you are outpacing and outscoring the competition?

Command zone arc... Thing has a million plugs, looks like crap, has a million games, yet still gets the job done.

Pearl Beast. First ball I ever bought, and it is still the most predictable ball in my collection.

I don't have much "new" stuff, but there are times that I would be lost without my El Nino or my Sapphire Zone. Those 2 balls have bailed me out of tough spots many a time and probably are not going anywhere.

I still have my Revolution Black rebel pearl, that has come through for me . By this ball being an older ball , it still cover alot of boards .
-
Lightning Flash... I don't leave home without it! Have yet to find a 15lb direct replacement for it...but I do have a old Hammer Nasty Nail that might take it's place when drilled.
Sometimes the older coverstocks / weaker lightbulb cores, etc. just work better.

I have had such good success with retro equipment this season that I now carry 2 retro balls with me at all times, a Faball Blue Pearl Hammer and a Faball Red Hammer. So far so good, shot two 600+ on aggravating spotty conditions this season where even my tame newer equipment was way to much reaction. Those old Faballs will still cream the pocket under the right conditions...........

Could someone tell me where this "Great Wall of China" is???

I've spent much of this season (such as it is) using a Roto RH (roughly a Yellow Dot equivalent from back when Columbia produced the Roto stuff) as well as the Gold Grenade (pearl urethane, also from Roto).
I'd rather pay the price for a bad shot...and the older stuff forces me to actually execute instead of just hitting one of seven arrows on the lane.

Well, my Mom doesn't throw anything other than her 1977 Judy Sutar (sp?) ball! She's the 9 count queen! And she can pick up just about any spare.
-
I carry my Rhino Pro Teal in my roster. Very reliable ball, and very good at spares.
-
I have an original Fire Storm (1995) that I picked up last year with about 5 games on the ball.
I also have a NEW black Hammer urethane (1983) that goes with me to tournaments.
Surprisingly, with my "new" game, the Fire Storm is a surprisingly strong ball!

I keep my Ebonite Red Werewolf with me at all times. Fits very well between my Animal Untamed and my Depth Charge. Has a strong arc and crushes the pocket. Works well on a medium-heavy condition.

track triton heat still gets some use every now and then. usually when the new heat isnt acting right.

for me it's the faball hammer 4D reactive great for playing deep inside on a dry shot
-
I have a Roto-Grip Black Grenade I use occasionally, and an Earl Anthony Magnum 6 (antique ball), that I use for a spare ball occasionally. My friend Kyle has a Jade Pearl Piranha that he uses when the lanes get a bit dryer.

MORE Speed = LESS time to PANIC
Currently Throwing: Brunswick Inferno, MoRich WMB, MoRich Labyrinth, Ebonite Eyeball, Brunswick Impact Zone, and Columbia 300 Piranha.
-
Well, my Screamr, Speed Zone and 16# fuze eliminator are all discontinued and part of my arsenal. I guess you can count my Bruiser too, but that's not really an "old" ball. Oh and my power groove's color (ice blue) is discontinued, and that's the ball I used for league.
