I only ask this question because I used to find that I always bowled better with balls that were typically drilled to go longer but would have a lot of backend. I basically always threw pearlized equipment drilled for maximum snap. My track used to be a tad bit lower, but not by much. I realize that different lane patterns call for different coverstocks and balls, but on your THS do you prefer balls with more back-end or balls with a little earlier arc? I am just curious as I have sort of transformed into being more favorable towards balls with an arc.

One tournament and pba/regional shots I want a predictable arc. With the skid/snap there is more of a chance for over/under when it comes to carry down. Even on a house shot I want something with a good roll.

With my lower speed, I prefer balls with a length layout, even though I rather like an arcing, continous back end. Like Brenton Davy said (I totally second his breakpoint assessment), I found much more room for error on varying lane conditions with such balls, e .g. my black Pure Hammer, Frankie May Gryphon, XXcel or pin-in Trauma.
The truly snappy balls can look impressive, e. g. my Shock & Awe or the old Reaction Rip, but if the lanes are not right I feel that I have a greater risk for splits or wide open spares.

I prefere somewhat arcy, not a hard snap. Actually, i havent drilled any ball with skid/snap layout, until theis week. My Richochet Rush is gonna snap like a twig

On med-dry I prefer skid snap,on med-heavy I prefer an arcing ball.

Most of my equipment over the years has had an arcing reaction which has resulted in my best single games but the skid snap equipment has provided me with my best sets.

I think that its always a good idea to have at least one ball in your bag that gives you a different reaction to your "standard" line.

Just out of interest which ball have you bowled with that has given you the best of each reaction?

For me the best arcing ball I have bowled with is a Storm Superpower and the best Skid Snap Balls I have used are a Pacific Storm and Columbia Outrage.

If chicks are watching... then skid-snap big backend.

If I'm trying to score (bowling, NOT chicks), then even roll.
