Ball(s) of the Year
« on: December 17, 2005, 03:15:10 AM »
Does "Bowling This Month" or any of the other mags still do this?

I've been back bowling for a year and am in the market for new equipment.

I'm looking at several balls but am interested to see what this forum thinks are the best balls out there:
* Best on Heavy Oil;
* Best on a "House Shot" (10-10, 40')
* Best on Medium to Oily;
* Best on Medium to Dry

I've crunched some numbers on a number of balls and then sorted them and this is a little that I've come up with:
Best on Oil: Centrifugal Mass, The Real Deal, The Rule, Hawg, Strike Zone, etc...
Best on Medium: Oracle Vision, Hard Core Particle, X-Factor Vertigo, Absolute Inferno, The One, etc...
Most Versatile: XXXcel, The Rule, X-Factor Trifecta, etc...

My list may be totally off the mark; I'm wanting to purchase two balls and don't want to waste money!

Let's see what you think!  List your "Ball of the Year"!

You seem to have two different things going on.  Do you want a list of potential balls of the year, or do you want advice on two balls in specific categories that will fit your game?  If it's the latter, you need to provide more details so we can help.  If you just want to pick from a list provided here, that's fine, but there will be no consensus.

I've added my info to my profile if anyone would like to make suggestions; however, the main point to this thread is to see what we come up with.

Glad to hear BTM still has that yearly.

Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, what does your pro shop operator recommend that you purchase?  Seems to me he/she would know your game much better than we would.

Best Heavy Oil - Seek and Destroy
House Shot - Anything round...
Medium Oil - Shock and Awe
Medium to Dry - Rotogrip RS-1

Ask 10 people get at least 7 different answers. Of course there is no best ball, only balls that match up better for you than others. They all use quality materials and all control their quality pretty well. Just comes down to matching the cover and weight block to your preferred line and style, getting a good pro to drill it right and throwing it the same way over and over again. I hate balls that skid / snap. I much prefer a ball that will arc to the pocket. I don't care how many boards I cross, just how big the pocket is for me... Just my opinion...

Excellent reply Volsfan!  Thanks!
