3 man teams???
« on: April 14, 2008, 05:08:56 AM »
I was asked to get in a scratch 3 man league... It is going to be on sport shot wood lanes.  What should I expect and what kind of avg should I have to be in this league?  How many games and how difficult is this?  I am debating on doing this or not.  I have roughly a 185 avg on THS synthetic lanes.  Could I hang with the other bowlers???

I'm thinking I might take that new chick from Logistics. If things go well I might be showing her my O-face. "Oh... Oh... Oh!" You know what I'm talkin' about. "Oh!"

Depends on what kind of 185 avg bowler you are.

If you are the I don't strike much but I make my spares 185 avg, then you shouldn't do too bad.

If you are the I strike a good amount but can count my nightly spares on one hand 185 avg, then you might struggle a bit.

Either way, as Hogs said, only one way to find out. And I guarantee, even if you cant hang with them in the beginning. You'll only get better if you really try.

my avg is still low from the beggining of the year.  I prob have closer to a 195 avg at the end of the season.  I usually bowl 2 games over 200 and 1 175ish game.  I am decent with my spares.  I would say that is the majority of my game is spares.  I get in streaks of the strikes though. seems that my ball wouldnt carry.  I have a couple new balls now and fixed that prob though.

Thanks for the input though.  Whenever they are 3 man teams.  Do you usually bowl 4 games?

I used to bowl in a similar league, and we were 3 games a week.  It was FUN

I say do it, it will make you a better bowler if you embrace it.

Exactly. Go for it and find out yourself. I know the feelings one has when entering a league as a beginner. But if you have a league witha sportsmen's touch, noone will mock at you, rather appreciate your efforts. It is a very good way to learn, either under the pressure of league play, but also among more experienced players. It is what I did in my 1st year of (ugly) bowling, with a mere 150 average among 200+ average players... It was mental hell, but helped me very much in many different ways.

thanks dizzy...thats kinda what I was thinking.  I have that can't lose attitude and have the ability to think outside the box when it comes to approach and all.  I think it will improve my game a bunch...I have 1 other person for sure right now (not a very good bowler) and 1 other..A pretty good bowler.  So hopefully the not so good bowler will improve and we will have fun...I think we will.  Its a good group of guys that work well under pressure.
