Motivate yourself?
« on: December 15, 2013, 08:39:53 PM »
When you absolutely do not fee like bowling, but it's league night, how do you motivate yourself, and get yourself focused?
Wise bowler told me once: K.I.S.S.   Keep it simple stupid.

Totally Defiant

Drill a new ball
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I'm competitive, and all I bowl in are high dollar scratch leagues, so that kind of creates the motivation.  It's harder to consistently stay motivated in a mixed handicap league where the difference between finishing 1st and last is 50 bucks a person.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

Go and have a good time.  Don't let your attitude ruin the fun for your teammates.

There has to be two sides. When I take my kids bowling is different than when I am bowling for money. I still enjoy bowling for what it is, and that's a sport I can share with my other family members (wife, toddlers, teenagers) until I can't walk anymore. Now, there's a different side to it, and that's the bowling for money side, which is a different mindset. I would love to bowl a mixed league with my wife to just be able to kick it and enjoy a couple of drinks. I also know I would need to keep my competitive side going as well. So you have to be able to do both.

I'm incapable of doing both.  Fun is directly connected to success for me.  If I'm not doing well, I'm not having fun.  So naturally I don't have fun much . .
