Title: Eye Opening moment of bowler transformation!!
Post by: Jesse James on March 23, 2020, 07:07:57 PM
Anyone ever had one of those transformational moments where it suddenly all made sense, while you were bowling?

Or maybe it was a bowling lesson that you took?

Or even just a tip that someone gave you, that suddenly made you go Ah hah!

And this one lesson or tip changed the scales for you and opened up your bowling skills exponentially to the point where your confidence rose greatly, to heights you hadn't experienced before!

For me it was two things: visualizing landing an airplane when delivering my ball!
And the second was, following through so that I projected the ball out onto the lanes, rather than just dropping it.

I was bowling poorly after several pretty good seasons with many honor scores. Saw a coach and he helped me with some timing issues, 300 game just a few weeks later.

One thing that works when I’m struggling, I shut it down for 3 weeks minimum.

I've learned that when I'm doing what I need to be doing (good timing, not throwing the ball like a pussy and being talented with my hand), and not throwing the ball like an idiot, that I score better.   ???

For me, it was the day I came across Tony Lambert at the Youth Nationals in Dayton, OH back in 1991.  First time I ever saw a two hander which gave me the idea to try it myself.  As a one hander, I was averaging 215 with a Blue Hammer.  I messed around in practice two handed all the time until one day a friend of mine told me to try it in league.  That night I shot 740 and never looked back.  Been a two hander ever since.

Also, I could not get to where I am today if it wasn't for my mentor Dannial Cohen of Striking Results Pro Shops in Atlanta.  He taught me everything I know about watching ball motion, laying out bowling balls, and the modern game so that I could coach and mentor others.
