Best I ever heard was a guy shot 279 and was talking at the end of the night about it. He says, "man I should have had my first 300 but I stoned a 5 pin".

Nevermind the Brooklyns he carried.

When your buddy leaves a 5 pin you say: What are you throwing a Marshmallow?

Hit em thin and watch em spin.

Stand up and fight.

When a  friend left a 9 pin on a great ball that just barely went high
(after he had just returned to bowling after a 2 year injury),
I told him, while he laughed his *ss off, walking back from the foul line,
"Don't worry, Fred, the ball will be right back."
He laughed even harder then.

I'm returning tomorrow myself after 3 months off and a month of therapy.
I'm sure I'll leave the same and a few 7 pins and 8 pins on balls that are just
a little less than perfect. But that's all a good set of signs.

"The lane man needs to be fired for not knowing how to oil these lanes!"

Nearly half the bowlers truly think the reason why they aren't carrying a weak hit is all because of the "crappy work the lane man does". When I tell them it's not his fault, all he does is start the machine and THAT does the oiling he has no other control with the machine without knowing how to program the oiler.

Another one I like:

"Nice lane courtesy dude!"

This coming from a guy 3 lanes over and still can't carry an average above 180! I give everyone 1 lane, nothing more unless it's in the rules or at a tournament.

When one guy left the "lily" (the 5/7/10), another guy said,
"NexT week we're going to take him from 10 lb. to 12 lb. balls!'

Some nights there is always one guy that says to me, "Take it easy on us tonite"  But for some reason when that is said, I always struggle barely shooting 600.  I don't know why.  When nobody says it, 9 times out of 10 Im over 700 for series.

Something that Tony Reyes told Allen Blansette during a PBA Regional event about 10 years ago:  "Kid, you need to learn how to get nine on your first ball."

BAAAHAHAHAHAA!! Classic right there.

I normally say that to my buddy and team mate Juan when he leaves the 5 pin. He leaves literally 4-5 a night!

After whiffing an easy spare, I walk back to the seating area blinking rapidly and say, "Sorry guys, the sun bothered my eyes."      ::)

Yeah something about that phrase that seems to have some kind of weird effect. Usually when someone on the other team says that to me or someone on my team we usually get our tails kicked all over the place and we don't really have a bad night, shoot at or above team average every game, the other team just seems to get hot on the night we bowl them.

Last week we bowled a team that said this exact phrase then followed it up with, ohh we lose the last 14 points in 2 weeks. When ever I hear that I think, yup here comes a challenging night! Never fails!!!!

I've used a variation of this one.

We were bowling a team that 3 of the 5 bowlers are high polish bald. Missed a fairly easy 2-7-8 spare, walked back and said "Ya know, it's kinda hard to bowl while seeing your reflecting on the guy next to you...." Pissed off the guy but my team got a kick out of it. lol
