favorite older ball that would hold up today?
« on: March 11, 2009, 01:50:13 PM »
lets go back atleast to before 2000, does anyone still throw a ball from this era? am i the only one who thinks that newer equipment is vastly overated, and some older balls from the 1990's still hold up. i still see a heck of a lot of hammers. i know 2 guys who average over 225 who use old crusty hammers from the early 1990s.
lets face it... this isnt deadlifting or picking up women.. its BOWLING!!!! Stop acting tough when you roll 4 strikes in a row!!!

Ebonite Jaguar
Imperial Quantum (I think this was late 90's).
It seems to me that there have been only 4 major advances in ball technology during my bowling career.  First came Urethane, then Urethane with two-piece core, then Reactive Resin, then Particle Technology.  One might conclude that today's reactives are somewhat better than they were 10 years ago, but they certainly aren't as vastly different in reaction from each other as they are from the Urethane they replaced.

Why only the 90's...there is equipment from the 70's that does just fine on the THS as long as one is not insisting on crossing the entire lane.  You might be surprised what a Roto RH can accomplish...
