Title: Favorite Pearl Particle
Post by: Pat Patterson on August 06, 2006, 02:09:19 PM
Which current Pearl Particle is everyones favorite?

I've had good success with Storm's Eraser Pearl Particle, X-Factor ACE, Pyro, and just recently added the Double Agent.

Beat particle pearl I ever threw was the Trauma Recovery, shortly behind that was the Depth Charge. However, the Ambush is creeping up there (hopefully the redrill I do makes it even better than it was originally).

Track Machine without doubt...

But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

X-Factor Ace, super versatile and carry is superb.  Had 2 of them and loved them both.  Ambush is getting on my good side.  Awesome on long patterns for me.

Yo, just the same for me. It is my oldest 15 lbs. ball, even got it used, but it is a charming view on played-down medium-oily and fresh medium conditions for me. Really behaves different from the carbide type particles. With the Jolts at the start - why not add a Pro-Thane LT Jolt?

I must admit in my limited experience that my best particle/pearl ball is the Vendetta Sniper.  I have two drilled completely different and I can go from one to the other depending on conditions without worrying about whether the ball will recover.  Moderately priced, still available.

I have a Vicious PP and the RSP. Close call. Both react about the same. I would have to put the RSP slightly ahead because of the lower cost.

but isnt Paticle Pearl like an oxymoron when it comes to bowling balls?

Not really.  It can kinda overlap with solid reactives but some people just prefer particle balls.

well from what ive heard particle equipment grip the lane at your feet and have a nice arc to the pocket and pearls i know for the most part skid and then flip hard into the pocket

Particle Pearl together would basically be an oxymoron, the same as saying Jumbo Shrimp

Particle pearls tend to blend those two reactions together.  The pearl helps keep the particle from gripping too much in oil and the particles help smooth out the reaction at the breakpoint.  Kinda like solid reactives.  They frequently work well in carrydown because the particles help the ball pick up its roll in the light-oil backends. and the pearl helps it get through the heads.

I think that really, the "particles hook early, pearls go longer and snap harder" thing is due to the typical cover preps that those balls have.  Most particle balls are dull to handle oil and most pearl balls are polished to help them skid.  The particle or pearl additive enhances the natural reaction you get from those particular surface preps.  How many dull pearl balls have come out recently?  How many particle balls with a high-gloss polish?
