I don't know what to put as a title.
Felt good to bowl a large event and do well this weekend. Bowled the Storm Utah Open and finished in the top 16 out of 380+ entries. Shot was brutal and a true mental grind, showed me a couple more things to work on.
Ran out of gas while sitting on the bubble spot for top 8. Didn't help that my ring finger had swelled and I couldn't get it in all the way. Couldn't get around the ball enough in games 6/7 today because of it.
Josh Blanchard ended up winning

I couldn't bowl it this year, but it's always BRUTAL. Always seems to be a grind and about as touchy as you'll ever bowl on. Glad you did well.

Thanks. Absolute Nirvana was my ball of choice. Needed a strong cover for the large amount of oil but something on the smoother side to control the backend

Sounds about right. Every time I've bowled it my stronger covers with surface helped me blend it out, but there is seldom ANY miss room. It's fun in a sadistic way. ;)

A high finish on tough conditions + elite participants = hell yes!
Congrats!

Yep congrats that sounds like a brutal shot against a brutal field for sure. Guess that explains why my pro shop guy was saying (talking to a woman customer) at least with the women on tour virtually all of them use tape as I imagine grinding out games more likely to have to deal with swelling and need the extra room at times.

My thumb was fine and I use tape in all of my thumb holes. It moreso happened because I chose to throw a ball during qualifying which I hadn't thrown in months that needed new grips.
It was definitely a tough shot and tough field. I think Michael Tang and Chris Via didn't even make it through qualifying

Ah kk (duh you said ring finger, Monday morning reading fail/brain fart). Still great job man you earned it.
