If my ball looks like this...

...what should I do?

What happened: Was bowling last night, and my carbide plus failed to return through the ball return. 2 bowlers later, the lane 180'd and my ball and a brand new (we're talking being used in it's 3rd game...) T Road pearl came back looking like that. The 3rd ball luckily only got one scuff, on the thumb hole.

So far it's looking like the center wants to resurface the ball for me. I'm not so keen on that. And yes, I could have them buy me a new one...but how easy will it be to find a Carbide +? On top of that, this is the only ball that fits me comfortably. (I've had some issues with pinching and loss of feeling in my thumb from using other balls I own.) And sure, I could just go to the same driller...if I want to wait til Nationals next year, or drive 2 hours away.

Anyway, I'll stop ranting now. Anyone else had this happen? Any managers out there replaced balls where this has happened? (The lane had broken down quite a few times during the night.)

Take it to the pro shop and they should have to fix or replace the ball for free. It looks like a belt burn but I am not sure it was hard to tell in the picture.

It's hard to judge the depth of the gouges from the picture, but if it is as bad as it looks, a resurface won't do the trick. You need, and deserve, a new ball. I feel really bad for you, especially if you are 2 hours from a competent ball driller, as copying what you have shouldn't be that hard.

It doesn't look good, but I would take to a pro shop you trust and ask them if it's repairable before you ask the center for a new ball.  But based on the picture, it looks like they will have to replace it.

My vote is a new ball. Not sure what to do about getting the same exact ball, but maybe someone from Lane #1 can recommend a comparable replacement for the Carbide +. A good ball driller should be able to replicate the fit on this ball if they have it to work from, no?

I thought that you were looking to get a new Purple Vibe anyway?

It's hard to tell from the pic but if the damage is that bad I'd opt for a new ball.

If the ball fits THAT good have a mold made of your thumbhole so they can recreate the same feel not just in this ball but the rest of them as well. No need to travel great distances most proshops can handle that no problem. Still sucks no matter how you look at it.
