House shot adjustment preference
« on: July 23, 2017, 12:56:07 AM »
Let's just say you bowled on a 5 man team league, 3 games, high friction house. You keep moving left and left and left until ur benchmark ball just isn't cutting it, and it's leaving flat 10s. What's everyone's preferred adjustment, ball up to stronger to get those flat 10s out, but have no room to miss right, or ball down and get back way right again? Again, it's on house shot. Just general question, not looking for advice or anything just wanna hear people's personal preferences

I will usually go to a weaker cover ball under the situation you described.
If it's a high friction house before it starts breaking down it's just a more natural option.  I usually do not need to move outside, just stay in the area with a ball that's less likely to slow down too early.  Perhaps a speed dominant guy can get the stronger ball to carry, but that's not me most days.

Bigger Ball, as much as it pains me now to do. Once you've chewed up the heads you can ball up with a weaker ball and stay in the friction, but the bigger ball gives me the opportunity to stay more relaxed and push the ball into the friction with a soft hand. That's just me tho.

Usually try getting further left and going for more rotation on the ball and keeping the speed down a bit. This has seemed to work well using a Hammer Rebel pearl. Just got a Scandal pearl as a bigger option when the Rebel isn't enough on "patterned" events.

Usually for league balling up wasn't the right move for me.

Going back right usually isn't an option unless using plastic. Which is never off the table.

Bowl in an extreme over/under house and balling up usually worked better this past season as balling down would still over react in dry and then skid too much in oil.

House shot transitions can be tough on strokers and tweeners when it comes to carry.  My best luck as I get in toward 4th arrow is to make sure I bring my down lane break point in around 12 board.  I often even target down lane just to help with my body alignment.  Without knowing your game I can't say for sure if this will help.

If I'm trapped between higher rev bowlers and the dumpers, and the middles are still viable, I'm going to move way left, and get away from the traffic with something that changes direction quickly, like a Boost Pearl or Dream On, depending on volume.  On if the volume inside is heavy, and the track area is beat up. Boost if I need more push.

On heavier house patterns, I will actually move right with the same ball and straighten out my angles to keep myself in the shim, then make a jump about 3rd game with something stronger.
