Title: Finger Pitches
Post by: thewhiz on July 05, 2019, 07:25:25 PM
I am having finger pain when I am done bowling only 1 game.  I have 1/4 reverse pitch in my finger holes.  If I go with more reverse will that take pain away from my fingers?  Also I use vise oval grips with nubs.  Could that be causing any pain?  I have reverse pitch in my thumb also.  I think 1/8.  Not sure if that makes a difference or not.  My fingers only hurt to the 1st joint.  No further.

Have similar issue a few years back, very experience PSO, shortened me a slightly and it got alot better. Point being, find a reputable PSO who has experience with this. Relieved my pain immediately

There could be multiple issues. Your best bet will be to go to an experienced PSO and do some plugging and testing

Definitely need to see PSO, but you didn't mention what side(s) pain was on and whether it was in 1st joint or skin. In my case new PSO solved it as much as possible, but I have arthritis, bottom line. Taping fingers resolved it. My span being too long definitely aggravated the problem initially, which is one reason I switched PSOs. But I would like to add that, at least in my case, healing is needed, couldn't expect immediate results..... Just FYI....

It's in my 1st joint.  No skin tears.  Like I said dont hurt if I dont bowl.

Hmm. Identical to mine, but my finger has an obvious bulge at the joint. Took 6 weeks to heal, even after fixing my pitches, before I could be comfortable. Depending on your age, could be onset of arthritis or, believe it or not, gout. But as I said, once pitches were adjusted and healing completed, I tape my fingers and just finished my best year ever, so there's light at the end. Good luck with your PSO. If they know what they are doing......

I would go away from using the nubs. You may be able to simply turn them over or around.

I know the lifts in inserts used to add 1/4 forward to finger pitches but I'm not sure about the nubs. Plus they increase your span slightly.

Normally I would also say look at your span but it appears you have shortened it already.
