im on a 4 person team and we are in 3rd place.we could do better but they dont care.all they do is talk on the phone of bring their friends from work.i want to lead this team to first but i dont know what to do now.everytime i say anything to them they tell me its just a game.we have lost alot of games by 20 pins or less.they both ave around 140 the first game then they dont break 100 again.i try to help them with their shot but it goes in one ear and out the other.what can i do is it just me ?

I believe I would be looking for another team for, next season. I bowl on a 5 man team. Our averages are between 134 & 220, but we are all "there to bowl". There is a chemistry, even though the ages are between 21 & 91. Win or lose we are having fun & that's the bottom line!

Play along with them. It seems to me that they are leaning on your performance to see if they win or lose. Just do what they do. Stop caring and start acting like an idiot. When they you bowling bad, maybe they will step up. If not, think of the fun you can have fooling around in last place. lol

ill try but this is a 36 week league.i have to do so much to stay in the top 5 that i hate to go bowl now.it make me mad that they have me this way.maybe ill give them a ticket this week so ill feel better.

It's all in the way you look at it... Suck it up and take the challenge - to carry your team to victory without any help! Although aggravating now, wouldn't it feel so much better to know YOU were the one that won the league despite the slackers you bowl with? Look at it as a challenge, and look elsewhere next year - maybe recommend a nice mixed league they could bowl in. Good Luck!

After that, you can always add little incentives. If they bowl 10 pins over average, fix a parking ticket, 20 pins give them a warning ticket.
Wish I could use those incentives on my team.
I can feel your pain, looks like its going to be a loooong year. Just tough this year out, find another team next year.

I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago. I liked the league enough to stay with it, but moved to another team.
Although we're not winning the world, I'm definitely a lot happier.
