278/279/278 = 835
Storm Virtual Energy (15lb)
Surface prep: 6 sides each step Abralon 360/500/1000/2000/4000 then polished with 3M Finesse II. (It''s a purdy marble)
Layout: 5.5 X 4 (pin over bridge, MB 1/2" right of thumb. No x-hole.
39'' THS a tad on the heavy side of medium volume.
Stand left, throw right. 18 at the arrows to 8 at the break point.
All those strikes and I did not break the bank. Left a wobbling 7-pin (in the 5th frame of the last game) that had to be stood back up as it was 1/2 way over when the rack took it out. That $800 would have come in handy. That''s OK though. I am on cloud nine right now. I can''t wait to get back on the lanes tomorrow night!
Not that it matters much these days, but my first 300 was shot a couple months ago in a different house. You can call me a THS-wall-baby, but not a house-hack! LOL!

Congratulations! Not just inching past 800 either. Would have been a heck of a triplicate - you couldn't have thrown off the last shot of the second game?

So are you gonna stick the Storm Virtual Energy in the closet with your first 300 ball (Epicenter)?

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the feedback.
I almost fulfilled my own prophecy. I have been telling my wife for the last three years that I would shoot three 279s in one set before I shot a 300. My first 300 was thrown exactly three months before last night's near-triplicate.
As for retiring the ball, we'll see how the new one rolls. If this one (or the Epicenter) rolls better, I will still throw it until something else comes along. Even though I have cut way back, I am still a ball whore
