Maybe its just me but this doesn't make sense...

Say your watching a ball review video of someone that's right handed. For some reason some reviews with flip the image and do a mirror so it looks like they are left handed so you can get a look at what it look like from the left side. Its makes absolutely no sense to me. Its still a right handed reaction and its still the right side of the lane. Am I alone on this???

I know its not really applicable but I don't mind when Tamer does it.  Just another view to throw in there as like to see his style but on right.  Still with you in that should have at least one tester from both sides if you can (which Tamer usually does).

As someone who bowls left and right handed, the lanes do react differently on each side. Flipping the image doesn’t show how the opposite side will react, but what it does do is show how the ball transitions for those that don’t have an eye for the motion when it is on the opposite side. A lot of right handers can’t watch a lefty throw a ball and know much more than “that hooked too much” because they aren’t use to reading motion on that side. I assume it is the same for lefties. But flipping the image let’s them see it from that perspective, although the motion will probably be a bit cleaner and sharper if a lefty actually threw the ball.

I agree with your statement.  I have always thought the "flipped" mirror image would not be what is shown, if the shot was truly thrown by a lefty.  But, in fairness I guess it's better than no shot thrown on the left side???

I'm with possum, I bowl both and there's a clear difference between both sides of the lane, but for some people it's easier to conceptualize when they see it from another side.  Reactions look close enough on a video that it's more about the idea and not so much the details.

I enjoy seeing the flipped view because I have never been able to visualize the left side the same as the right side. The left side always looks more narrow to me, as if the right side was 3-4 boards wider than the left. When I watch a lefty flipped to righty I'm always surprised at how much more they're hooking the ball than I originally thought. All the points made above about the sides playing differently are totally valid but I still enjoy watching these videos.
