Losing hook
« on: March 06, 2017, 07:27:31 AM »
Alright, I bowled a tournament this weekend.  It was a 45 flat with house shot volume.  So just long but not a lot of volume.  My line was standing 30 getting the ball out to 15 but as we got into games 3 and 4 my shot started tightening up, losing back end.  Other players with higher rev rates were starting to complain the shot was getting dry.  What gives?  How was my line tightening up and theirs was drying out.  I was using a more aggressive ball to stay up with the high rev payers but it was not working.

Chances are your ball was burning up if you weren't moving your feet. Your best bet would have been to ball down to something that would respond faster off the friction.

Good point.  I thought I released a couple of shots really well and the ball never faced up.  Could be that it was burning up through the heads.  Thank you.

Exactly. A 45 ft shot doesn't mean you should be throwing an aggressive ball necessarily. You even mentioned that it didn't have a lot of volume
