2003 Bowling Ball cracked
« on: February 03, 2010, 04:32:59 AM »
A COMMENT:
I buy NEW bowling balls .. use them sometimes for 6 games and if they didn't live up to expectations I put them on a shelf.

I bought a NEW ONSLAUGHT back in '03. Didn't like it and rather then sell it .. put it on my ball rack in my office.

Today while cleaning up I looked at the ball and it was cracked all the way around the ball.

Tonight it goes in the garbage .. only sorry I didn't give it to someone who could have used it.

Is your rack near a window or heating vent?

In my case I have racks along the back wall that has neither a vent or a window. There are other balls in the same environment that are hanging in there pretty good! Not to say it WILL NOT happen with them ..

I have no grounds for this but it's something I do and have never had a ball crack yet (knock on wood). I store any ball, drilled, with the fingers/thumb down. I don't have any setting as long as you do and the customer's balls usually set for only a day or so but it's just something I figure can't hurt, might help, never know.

Have you guys ever thought about taking the buff a ball thingys and putting the ball in one of those and hanging it from a hook or something? There wouldn't be any weight on the bottom part of the ball to make it crack. I was just thinking about this and wanted to suggest it.

That sounds interesting, but I couldn't help laughing when I thought what my reaction would be if the buff a ball gave way during the night and the ball went crashing to the floor!  --  JohnP
