Title: Frustrated, any advice appreciated
Post by: 3M Dust Remover on April 17, 2008, 03:45:48 PM
Well i have had another bad night. I throw the Hammer Doom on pretty light conditions and recently I can not get that ball to snap or move on the backend for the life of me. I have to slow down my ball speed from around 16 to around 13 to get it to move on the back. It is drilled pin above ring, is this a bad drilling because of the amount of length im getting? I have never had this problem, the Doom has been phenomenal! But the last 3 weeks, its dead. I have changed the surfaces, haven't hot water bathed it yet. My teammates balls are still hooking like normal. Do i need to make some changes or should i just scrap it and get a new ball?

have you had this ball touched up at the pro shop.  In other words...put back into NIB condition.

When balls are used, they eventually end up at about 800 grit. . dull balls get polished and polished balls get dull.  Your Doom was much higher NIB then 800.  So if you have never had the ball touched up by the pro shop, then you need to do that.  This is normal maintenance.

How long have you had the ball? Better yet how many games does it approximately have on it? Do you use it as your spare ball also? Have the lane conditions changed? Tried moving to a different spot on the lanes?

I think it is time for a bath. If you feel confident that you are not at fault then it must be the ball. Give it a good hot water bath and it should come right back.

Have you bothered to try any other ball you own to see if maybe you have unknowingly killed your release or something?

If you are 100% sure that nothing has changed with the lane conditions nor your game a resurface may be needed.
