Genesis Excel & Sync Tape
« on: August 27, 2018, 01:33:31 PM »
Anyone try the Genesis Excel tape on their thumb,  while also having a piece of the Genesis Sync tape inside, on the back of the thumb hole?

I use Excel tape on my thumb and a few of my bowling balls have the sync silver on the backside.  For me it makes it a little cleaner out of the thumb because the excel along with the sync silver makes it pretty slick.

Hmm so do you ever feel like you have to squeeze when you use the two together?

to be honest yes, but if you used the sync white then no you would not.

Just curious.....

What kind of friction in your release motivates you to use all this tape to protect your hand/fingers?

So, tape against tape and it's not too much friction? That's something I'd like to try. I use Excel Orange (#4) on my thumb but not for friction... for padding. I sometimes have to layer Excel on the thumb, and it's not really great for that. (Insert tincture of Benzoin horror stories here...)

If you use tape on thumb and in the ball without issues, then my padding problem might be solved. Did I hear that right?

So my hands get very wet and clammy. I'm a heavy rosin user to compensate. Because of the inconsistency my bare thumb gives me, I like to try and create the least variation throughout the set. I've used Vise Hada and Motiv tape on my thumb before and it was decent. I now use 2-3 pieces of white tape layered in the thumb and nothing on my thumb directly, again decent.

I want to venture into Genesis tape and I also notice quite a few pro's running on the thumb and in the thumb. So just looking for the best feel that I can trust to hold during the armswing preventing grab and promoting a relaxed grip, but at the same time not hanging in it.

Lefty - correct that is what I'm inquiring on as well. One on the backside of my thumb hole and one on the backside of my thumb itself. I'm going to place an order for Genesis products. Just can't decide silver or white on back, 2 or 3 Excel on thumb. I might start with white on back and 2 on thumb and adjust from there.

Thanks Alonzo. I'll follow along and see what replies you get. I tried 2, liked 3, but decided on 4. Looks like Sync may have different properties than Excel, so I'll try that as well for the back of thumb from what I'm seeing here.

Sounds to me like white or hybrid first, than black for smoothness, might do the trick. Sample pack, here I come.

Bringing this back to the top. Looking for more comments from anyone who has tried using Excel on the the thumb and Sync in the thumb hole relative to tape-on-tape friction.
Thanks
