Anyone hear that it might be in Reno this year and not Southpoint?

I haven't heard anything, but I will say that this is indeed POSSIBLE.

The QubicaAMF World Cup will be going on around the same time, and that is going to be at Sam's Town this year. There would be overlapping tournaments, however it would definitely make it a WORLD event.
