Anyone have balls that score only on wood? Or only synthetic?
« on: August 26, 2004, 04:29:25 AM »

My Track Threat, one of my favs, is a ball that works for me extremely well. It's set up in a low flare 2x5 (105*) layout. With breakdown in the heads and mids, it reads the midlane extremely well, then has a strong arc back end.

However, I had an epiphany yesterday when I realized that all the success that I had with this ball last season was on wood lanes!  On synthetics it eather goes way too long or when there is breakdown, it just hooks too early.

So, I ask this question to see if anyone plans unique arsonals of equipment based upon wood or synthetic lanes... thoughts???

Wish I could say I have a different arsenal for synthetics as compared to wood lanes, but I only saw one synthetic house in all of my bowling last year ( some houses have 1/2 synthetics and 1/2 wood surfaces) and I didn't really see that different of a reaction in my equipment at that pure synthetic house (for the Mass state tournament in New Bedford). Since I see wood houses more than anything else, what I have right now seems to be working best.

Synthetics have a tendency to skate a mile then hook out the door, so something solid that arcs is the key in general. wood lanes will break down in the heads quicker so a pearl is always a good start

I haven't used any of my new equipment (Detour and Depth Charge) on wood, but I'll soon find out.

Absolutely. My Track Mutant loves wood, and hates synthetics. Every house, every time.
